Lancers Battle Pirates in Third Game of Series

RIVERSIDE--- California Baptist fell in the third game of the series with the Seton Hall Pirates. The Pirate's solid pitching helped them earn their 12-3 win, and CBU moved to 5-6 on the season.
Lancers tallied the first run of the game in the bottom of the first after Michael Carpentier doubled to right field and moved Marty Munoz to third. Jake Skipworth stepped into the box and grounded out to second base but earned the RBI after Munoz made it home on the play.
In the bottom of the ninth, pinch hitter Ryan Kim hit a double down the right side and collected his first hit of the season. Mitchel Simon followed with a two-run home run, his second homer of the season, and notched two RBI for the Lancers. Brandon Downer put up a season-high of seven strikeouts in a single game against the Pirates.
The Pirates built up momentum in the top of the third and put up five runs on the board, taking a 5-1 lead. The visitors added runs in the final three innings, ending the night with their first win of the series.
California Baptist returns to Totman Stadium for the series' final game on Tuesday, March 7th, at 6 p.m.
