Five-Run Rally Earns Second Game of Series for CBU

The Trailblazers tallied the first run of the game with a single home run to left center and held CBU to no runs through the second inning. Josh Paino matched UTU with a single to left field that scored Jake Skipworth. The Lancers took their first lead of the game off a double from Skipworth that brought in two runs but the lead was taken by the Trailblazers with their own double and a run off a ground out in the fifth.
California Baptist tied it again at four runs with a sacrifice fly from Skipworth in the sixth inning. UTU put up a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to take a two-run lead and added their final run in the eighth. CBU hit four singles in their eighth-inning outing that earned two runs and squeezed the deficit to one. Mitchel Simon stepped up and delivered an off-the-wall double that secured three runs for the Lancers as well as the game. Jacob Wilson ended the night with a three-up, three-down ninth inning to improve California Baptist's conference record to 7-4.

Simon continues to be a force in the box for CBU, collecting three RBI and two hits in Saturday night's game. Skipworth also had himself a night on the diamond with a pair of hits and three RBI against the away pitching staff. Liam Rocha ended the nigth with eight strikeouts from the mound in six innings pitched against the Trailblazers.
The Lancers return to Totman Stadium at noon on Sunday, April 2nd for a chance at a conference sweep against Utah Tech.
