4/29/2023 8:37:00 PM | Baseball
RIVERSIDE--- The Lancers returned to Totman for the second game of the WAC series against Abilene Christian on Saturday night and fell to the Wildcats in the tenth inning 5-4. After going down early to ACU, Shayne Simpson launched a timely grand slam to take the lead, but the Lancers ultimately couldn't pull out a win.
California Baptist held the 4-3 lead from the fourth inning until the ninth, where the Wildcats tied the game with a well-placed single after the runners advanced on an error. Abilene Christian was able to secure the win with a solo home run over right field in the top of the tenth to even the series. Simpson walks away from the night with all four RBI for the Lancers, while Michael Carpentier tallied another two-hit game on the season. Spencer Bengard earned four strikeouts across four innings for CBU.
California Baptist will wrap up the weekend against the Wildcats tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. for a chance to take the series in a Sunday rubber match.
