RIVERSIDE--- The Lancers enter their final week of nonconference play with five wins under their belt as they head to Northern California to face San Jose State and Sacramento State. Kristen St. Clair's squad has dropped and tied one match this season, holding a 5-1-1 record.
THE LANCERS AT A GLANCE
California Baptist started their week in the Pacific Northwest, where they faced the Oregon Ducks in Eugene. The Lancers held them scoreless through the first half and found the back of the net halfway through the second set of 45 minutes after Marcella Brooks scored off a rebound in the six-yard box. Noa Schumacher ensured the victory after stopping a Ducks penalty kick in the 83rd minute that would have tied the match. Brooks and Schumacher's efforts led the team to their first Power 5 win in the history of the CBU women's soccer program.
Back in Riverside on Sunday, the Lancers battled a heat delay and the Fresno State Bulldogs at CBU Soccer Stadium. CBU went down by one goal in the first half but kept themselves in the fight through the next 45 minutes by heavily dominating on FSU's defensive end. Brooks came in clutch once again and tied the match with a solid free kick from 25 yards out. Kaylee Hauck picked up her second goal of the season after she battled in the box through traffic to score off a rebounded shot by Jayden Ramirez. The Lancers move to 3-1-1 at home this season.
