RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist women's soccer program is set to begin Western Athletic Conference play this week with a pair of home matches. The Lancers enter their conference slate with a 5-1-3 record, ending last week with two ties during their Northern California road series.
THE LANCERS AT A GLANCE
Head coach Kristen St. Clair's squad has dropped just a single game this season and sits at the top of the conference standings heading into WAC play. The Lancers battled San Jose and Sacramento State to a pair of tough draws, earning their fourth shutout of the season against the Spartans with a 0-0 tie. CBU went ahead early against the Hornets with a perfectly placed penalty kick goal by Frida Murrieta but ultimately tied the 1-1 match with a late goal by Sacramento.

CBU enters their week with five solid wins, including their first Power 5 win against Oregon earlier this season. Noa Schumacher continues to anchor the defense for the Lancers after allowing only five goals in nine matches this season. Schumacher was also named the WAC Goalkeeper of the Week after her impressive performance against the Ducks. Marcella Brooks and Taylor Summit have also picked up WAC Weekly awards this season.

MATCH NOTES
The Lancers and Wolverines are no strangers to each other, dating back to 2005 as their first-ever match-up. CBU is currently 3-4-1 against UVU, with their most recent game being at the beginning of conference play last year. The Lancers took an early two goal lead in the first half, but the Wolverines had a mighty comeback for a 4-3 win in Utah. California Baptist will look to even their record to 4-4-1 against Utah Valley for an early victory to start conference play before playing the Redhawks on Sunday. The Lancers hold a 3-3-1 record against Seattle, with competition beginning in 2018 at the start of the CBU Division I era.
THE WOLVERINES AT A GLANCE
Utah Valley enters the conference slate as the WAC favorites, earning seven first-place votes during the preseason selection polls. The Wolverines have had an impressive pre-conference run and currently hold a 3-3-3 record, with their most notable win against #19 USC on the road. The squad also pulled out a 1-1 draw against Long Beach (RV) in Long Beach.
Leading the pack is none other than Faith Webber, an incredibly efficient attacker with nine goals and 19 points this season alone. Webber scored a hat trick against #19 USC and is very dangerous in front of the net, often earning goals for reading the game well and being in the right place at the right time. UVU has scored 18 goals across their nine matches this season while conceding 19. The Wolverine goalkeepers have split time equally for the most part through preseason, combining for 36 saves.
THE REDHAWKS AT A GLANCE
Picked to finish third in conference play, Seattle U has amassed a 2-6-1 record during their nonconference play and will open the season against Grand Canyon. The Redhawks also faced impressive squads like Santa Clara to kick off the year and earned their two wins against CSUN and Portland State.
The squad has scored ten goals across their nine games this season and has allowed 13 to hit the back of their own net. Jourdyn Curran leads the Redhawks with three goals with nine starts on the year. Seven other Seattle players each hold a goal apiece, a nod to their ability to not rely on just a single player. On the defensive side, Kassidy Kirgan has amassed 34 saves during her nine starts in goal for the Redhawks.
