WSOC Preview: Lancers Continue Conference Play in Utah

RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist women's soccer team ventures to Utah this weekend as they continue Western Athletic Conference play against Utah Tech on Saturday evening. The Lancers are currently in the middle of the conference standings, sporting a 2-1 WAC record while boasting a 6-4-3 overall record this season. The Trailblazers enter the weekend 0-3 in conference and currently own a 5-3-4 overall record.
THE LANCERS AT A GLANCE
California Baptist split the second week of WAC play after dropping a heartbreaker to Tarleton at home, going down to the Texans 2-1 after a late goal secured three points for the away squad. The Lancers turned things around on Sunday evening after welcoming Abilene Christian and earning the second conference win of the season after a pair of second-half goals earned CBU the 2-1 victory.
The Lancer's defense continues to be one of the best in the conference, limiting opponents' shots, and has yet to allow more than two goals in a match. CBU's bench has also proven to have significant depth, with multiple goals coming from bench players and other Lancers picking up starting positions well due to injuries. Lauryn White leads the Lancers with a trio of goals, scoring the equalizer against ACU last week for her third of the season. Morgan Witz has also been instrumental in creating opportunities for the Lancers, boasting five assists this season for the second most in the WAC.

MATCH NOTES
Saturday evening will be the 17th meeting for the Lancers and Trailblazers as CBU sports a 13-3 overall record against Utah Tech. The squads tied 2-2 last season after the Lancers earned a first-half lead that was matched by a pair of late goals from the Trailblazers to share the points.
THE TRAILBLAZERS AT A GLANCE
Utah Tech is coming off a three-game loss streak as they welcome California Baptist on Saturday as they celebrate their senior class. The Trailblazers opened the conference schedule against the top three squads in the WAC, falling to Utah Valley, GCU, and Utah Valley. UTU did not go quietly and never got shut out during the first three matches of the regular season while finding the back of the net thrice against the Wolverines. The Trailblazers will be looking to pick up their first win this weekend against the Lancers, especially on Senior Night.
Lacy Fox, a junior forward, is leading the way offensively for the Trailblazers. Fox has found the back of the net seven times this season and owns one hat trick this season. The junior has also scored in the last two matches and ranks third in the WAC in goals this season.
