RIVERSIDE--- Sunday afternoon at the Riverside Sports Complex was quite eventful as the California Baptist baseball team made up a seven-run deficit for their fifth win of the season. After UC Riverside piled on a hefty 7-0 lead in the first inning, the Lancers slowly chipped away at the Highlander's lead and came back with a 10-8 win. CBU ultimately won the four-game series with UCR 3-1 and now possesses a 5-3 overall record.
The comeback began in the top of the second for the Lancers after Nicholas Dumesnil got things started with an RBI double that scored Garret Ostrander. Gunner Antillon brought in the second run of the inning with an RBI single, cutting the Highlander's lead to five runs. Dumesnil struck again in the fourth with a single homer over the center field wall for his second home run of the year. Mitchel Simon and Josh Paino followed suit in the top of the fifth with a pair of back-to-back home runs to put the Lancers within two.

The tying run came for the Lancers in the sixth inning after Antillon's RBI cut UCR's lead to just a single run. Michael Carpentier brought home Julian Alvarez with an RBI single for the Lancer's seventh run, but Highlanders would respond in the eighth with a single run to retake their lead. Down but not out, the Lancers were able to put a pair of runners on base in the top of the ninth as they looked to take their first lead of the afternoon. Jake Brown battled at the plate and laced a ball through the left side for a two-run double before Ostrander's RBI single secured a 10-8 final score for the Lancers.

The CBU pitchers did not allow a run from the Highlanders from the second to seventh inning while accumulating eight strikeouts as a staff. Dumesnil had a day at the plate as he notched three hits across four at-bats while tallying three RBI and a homer. Four Lancers connected with the bat for a double while three different CBU batters homered.
The victory on Sunday was also significant for Head Coach Gary Adcock as it signified his 700th win as skipper for California Baptist. Adcock now holds a 700-365-1 across his 21 seasons with the Lancers.
