RIVERSIDE – The California Baptist Baseball program is set to host the UC Davis Aggies this weekend for the third series of the young 2024 season. Friday will begin with a doubleheader against the Aggies, before single games on both Saturday and Sunday. This will be just the second series match-up between the two squads.
The Lancers enter the weekend with a 5-3 record after defeating UC Riverside over the weekend 3-1. The Aggies bested Brigham Young 2-1 in a three-game series and come to Riverside with a 5-2 overall record.
THE LANCERS AT A GLANCE
California Baptist is coming off its first series win against UC Riverside over the weekend, where the squad went 3-1 during the four-game series. After dropping the first game to the Highlanders, CBU dominated UCR away and picked up a 12-3 win to level the series. Another win on Saturday and a seven-run comeback on Sunday secured the series for the Lancers.

The junior picked up four RBI and three doubles during his time at the plate, leading the Lancers with a series .412 batting average. Cody New came up big for the Lancers from the mound as he pitched five innings of action and maintained a 0.00 series ERA during his two appearances.
BREAKING RECORDS:
The Lancers have been on a roll the last two series in the records department, adding three new lines to their record books. During their Opening Weekend festivities, Gary Adcock's squad crossed home plate 25 times for the new NCAA Era record for most runs in a single game. The Lancers had previously scored 24 runs against Hawaii Hilo in 2012.
Simon earned the title of most career home runs and RBI against UC Riverside on Saturday evening when he launched his 41st homer and picked up his 143 RBI. Rounding out individual records is none other than skipper Adcock, who solidified his 700th career win at California Baptist with the 10-8 win against UCR on Sunday afternoon.

SERIES NOTES
This will be just the second time the Lancers take on the Aggies in a weekend series. In 2021, California Baptist traveled to Davis where they swept the Aggies in a three-game series. The match-up was a thriller during the second game of the weekend after the 10-inning game ultimately went the Lancer's way. In terms of common opponents, UC Davis battled Seattle to open their season and bested the Redhawks in a 2-1 series.
THE AGGIES AT A GLANCE
Most recently, the Aggies are coming off a midweek tilt against the University of the Pacific and dominated the Lions, scoring 17 runs on 17 hits. UC Davis scored 10 runs in the third inning alone for their largest margin of win this season. The Aggies have proved they have bat power and have scored at least four runs in every game this season.
Leading the Aggies in the batter's box are Mark Wolbert and Nick Leehay, a pair of dominant juniors. Wolbert is batting .387 and has notched 12 hits, three doubles, a triple, and six RBI. Leehay has followed suit this season and leads the Aggies with 11 RBI while snagging eight hits, three doubles, and two homers.
On the pitching side, UC Davis has found success in Carter Delaney and Noel Valdez. Delaney has thrown five innings for the Aggies, holding onto a 0.00 ERA and allowing just a single run. Starting pitcher Valdez has seen 10 innings of action and has allowed three earned runs, holding a 2.61 ERA and a team-high 12 strikeouts from the bump.
