The win moves CBU's record to 9-13 on the season and 2-1 in Gold Coast Conference play. The Lancer's home record improves to 4-2, including winning each of their last three at the Lancer Aquatics Center. Concordia falls to 10-14 overall and 0-2 in GCC play.
The Golden Eagles drew first blood off a power play in the first period, but a pair of goals from Hutton and one from Madison Haworth would give CBU the advantage after one period. CBU and CUI went back-and-forth in the second period, trading goals over the initial five minutes of the frame. Celeste Almendariz and Cayleigh Carter would end the back-and-forth affair with back-to-back Lancer goals to give CBU the 7-5 lead heading into halftime.
CBU would increase its lead to as many as four after Hutton and Aubrey Newton netted goals to begin the third period. The Golden Eagles would not go away quietly, scoring four straight goals in the third period to knot the game at nine goals apiece. Hutton would net her fifth goal of the contest to start the fourth period to put the Lancers back up by two goals with 6:29 remaining.
