Moreno and Almendariz Lead CBU Past Toronto on Saturday Afternoon

RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist University women's water polo bounced back on Saturday afternoon as they downed the Toronto Golden Jets 13-4 at the Lancer Aquatics Center. The win moves the Lancers record to 7-9, giving them an impressive 5-2 record at home.
Neither offense had a particularly noteworthy start, with only three total goals finding the back of the net in the opening 12 minutes of action. The Golden Jets hung around with the #24 Lancers early on, tying the game at two apiece midway through the second period. CBU's offense perked up in the back half of the frame as they would dent the twine three times to take a 5-3 lead into halftime.
The second half was a dominant showing from the home team, outscoring the Golden Jets 8-1 in total. Toronto's lone second-half goal came in the final minutes of the fourth period, but the score was too late as the Lancers rattled off three more goals to finalize the match 13-4. Celeste Almendariz and Delilah Moreno carried the CBU offense, combining for eight goals on 14 total shots. Tyanna Schneider played in her first complete game of the year in between the posts and would be rewarded with seven saves while only allowing four goals.
