Riverside, Calif. (April 29, 2025)—California Baptist University (CBU) announced today that head softball coach Mike Smith has submitted his resignation, effective April 30, 2025.
A national search for the next head coach will begin immediately.
"CBU remains committed to advancing our softball program," said Dr. Micah Parker, vice president for Athletics. "Our team is focused on finishing the season strong. We look forward to our preparation for the transition to the Big West Conference in July 2026."
In addition to the conference announcement made in March, the university opened a new 14,200-square-foot Baseball and Softball Clubhouse. The new facility features locker rooms, coaching offices, balconies overlooking both fields, sports medicine and physical therapy space, and a conference room.
