RIVERSIDE --- The champions of the WAC regular season and conference tournament, California Baptist, learned their next destination on Friday. It will be a bus trip into Los Angeles for CBU, as the Lancers return to UCLA and Easton Stadium for the second time in the 2026 season.
UCLA will be the host of the regional and draw the No. 8 overall seed in the 2026 NCAA Tournament. The Bruins are one of eight teams eligible to host both a Regional and Super Regional.
The Los Angeles regional will be one filled with familiarity for the Lancers. CBU took the field at Easton Stadium on April 14, a 13-6 loss against UCLA. Cal State Fullerton, the Big West champion, will also be at the regional. CBU hosted Fullerton on April 21.
South Carolina is the fourth team setting up shop in Los Angeles this weekend.
To earn their spot in the NCAA Tournament, CBU won the WAC Tournament on Saturday behind an 8-2 win over Tarleton State. Right-hander Miranda De Nava allowed two hits across her complete game performance. Makayla Medellin hit her second home run of the postseason and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the WAC Tournament.
De Nava, Ashlee Annett, Kenzie Farrier-Pilon, and Sydney Peterson all earned All-Tournament recognition.
Los Angeles is one of 16 regional sites selected by the Tournament Selection Committee. Other sites are: Athens, GA, Austin, TX, Baton Rouge, LA, Bryan-College Station, TX, Durham, NC, Eugene, OR, Fayetteville, AR, Gainesville, FL, Knoxville, TN, Lincoln, NE, Lubbock, TX, Norman, OK, Stillwater, OK, Tallahassee, FL, and Tuscaloosa, AL.
The Lancers will play the first NCAA Division I Tournament game in program history on Friday night at 7 p.m. (PST). The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
