CBU Collects Its 30th Win On Tuesday

RIVERSIDE, CA--- California Baptist baseball secured its 30th win of the season on Tuesday afternoon across town at UC Riverside with a 19-4 victory. Gary Adcock's squad is one of five teams in the nation with 30 tallies in the wins column, meeting their total wins for the 2025 season just over halfway through the 2026 campaign. A 10-run seventh inning highlighted the 19-4 victory this afternoon, and the squad improves to 30-7 this season.
A Cole Hansen sacrifice fly kick-started the offensive affair for CBU, and with two runners still on, Ben Castelli stepped up and knocked his seventh dinger of the year to give the Lancers a 4-0 lead in the first inning. A solo shot from Diesel Toth added on before a Highlander error would allow CBU to score in the fourth. The Lancers were relentless and continued badgering the UCR pitching staff, adding runners and driving in a pair of runs with two more sacrifice flies.
The 10-run seventh inning for the Lancers was an accumulation of smart baserunning and executing on pitching errors, totaling three runs on errant pitches and the other seven on well-placed singles. The Highlanders continued to battle against the CBU pitching staff and managed to hit a two-run homer, but Adcock's staff tossed 13 strikeouts while limiting UCR to six hits. At the plate, CBU totaled 19 hits this afternoon and was just shy of their season high of 20 hits, which came against BYU and San Francisco earlier this year.
California Baptist joins a very small list of programs that have achieved 30 wins this far this season, including #1 UCLA and #2 Georgia Tech. Additionally, the Lancers have also joined those two programs in not dropping a weekend series yet this season. CBU will look to continue the trend this weekend as it returns to Texas to take on Tarleton State to continue Western Athletic Conference play.
