WSOC Preview: Lancers Set for Home Matchups Against Tritons, Gauchos

RIVERSIDE – Big West play continues at CBU Soccer Stadium this week as the Lancers host UC San Diego Wednesday night and UC Santa Barbara Saturday afternoon.
The Lancers (6-1-1) are coming off a 1-1 week in Big West play, highlighted by a 2-0 win at UC Riverside in the Crosstown Showdown. CBU controlled the match from start to finish and earned a win in the newly established rivalry, which will contribute to the Crosstown Showdown trophy awarded at the end of the year.
Senior Anja Jestrovic was a key contributor in the UCR game, scoring the Lancers' second goal with an impressive shot from outside the box. She now leads the Lancers in points (10), shots (12), goals (3), shots on goal (5), assists (4) and game-winning goals (2).
CBU now turns its attention to UC San Diego and UC Santa Barbara as the Lancers look to defend their home turf. The Lancers are unbeaten at home this season, winning all five matches at CBU Soccer Stadium. In fact, CBU has not lost a home match since falling to Utah Valley on Oct. 18 of last year. Since then, the Lancers have won seven straight at home, bringing their all-time home record at CBU Soccer Stadium to 28-7-7.
The Lancers will face two strong opponents this week. UC San Diego currently sits second in the Big West standings after earning a win at CSUN and a draw against Utah Valley. After defeating UC Santa Barbara earlier this season, the Lancers will look to continue that success Saturday afternoon, as the Gauchos currently sit atop the Big West standings following a win over Sacramento State and a draw against Long Beach State.
