JORGENSEN BEST IN NAIA

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- California Baptist University's Nicoline Jorgensen was named NAIA Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the NAIA National Office announced Tuesday. Jorgensen was selected from a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated grouping winners.
The junior keeper is the fourth Lancer ever to earn NAIA Player of the Week honors, joining Sherri Triggs (Oct. 1, 1996), Emily Evanson (Sept. 21, 2009) and Amanda Lammers (Nov. 2, 2009).
Jorgensen keyed a Lancer defense that surrendered just one goal at the KELME Classic hosted by Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) over the weekend. She denied six shots en route to a 1-0 shutout of No. 5 Lindsey Wilson. Sixth-ranked CBU (6-1-0) also notched a 2-1 win over No. 7 Martin Methodist (Tenn.). Against the RedHawks, Jorgensen had three saves.
The Lancers were the only team to win both of their games at the tournament that featured the Nos. 1-, 5-, 6- and 7-ranked teams.
CBU begins GSAC play Saturday (Sept. 25) at 1 p.m. against Westmont.
