The Lancers opened day two of the Desert Stinger tournament in Las Vegas against CSUSB, facing the Coyotes for the third time this year, and promptly gave up a trio of runs in the first.
Emma Holden settled in and the bats heated up, however. The Lancers exploded for 10 runs in the sixth inning to score their second comeback victory of the tournament.
CBU battled back to pull within one heading into the fifth and then Mara Rodriguez singled in a run to tie it early in the inning. Sloan McHann then greeted new pitcher Courtney Wilhelms with a three-run shot to put the Lancers up for good.
With the bases loaded still in the sixth, April Vasquez greeted another Coyote pitcher rudely, smashing her second homer of the game to clear the bases. She already had a solo-homer in the second inning.
A single run in the sixth for CSUSB was not enough as Holden shut the door, working her way out of a bases loaded jam to end the game.
In the afternoon game, Tory Ferreira stole the show pitching a complete game shutout as the Lancers downed Notre Dame de Namur 4-0.
Ferreira went the distance, striking out nine batters just a day after a tough outing against Western Oregon in which she took a no decision after giving up six runs.
Kailey Willingham led the game off with a two-run homer and Rodriguez would also hit a solo homer in the game to help the Lancers to the 4-0 victory.
The Lancers come home from Las Vegas with five wins to move to 7-0 on the season. CBU hosts the Ringor SoCal Smash next weekend on Feb. 17-18.
