Sloan McHann drove in five runs and Tory Ferreira helped CBU extend its scoreless innings streak to 26 as the Lancers pummeled the Cougars in their opening game of the day.
CBU wasted no time getting the offense going putting up six runs in the second inning and then seven more in the fourth.
Ferreira worked a scoreless top of the fifth, stranding a runner at third to close the game out.
McHann slapped a three-run double down the left field line in the second and then drove in five more runs with a single in the fourth.
The Lancers had seven runs on seven hits to force the mercy rule five inning game.
Ferreira moved to 5-0 with the win, giving up five hits and no runs in the game.
Things could not have looked more different in the nightcap, as CBU suffered its first loss of the season.
Emma Holden gave up a solo-homer to Kimberle Smith in the fourth inning and then a two-RBI single to Olivia Lucatuarto in the fifth to fall behind 3-0.
The Lancers never mustered any offense, being held scoreless for the first time this season.
Three more runs by CSUSM in the seventh would seal the game.
Three pitchers combined to allow six hits and no runs for the Cougars.
Holden took her first loss of the year to fall to 5-1. She threw seven innings, giving up 11 hits and six earned runs.
Lindsay Henry was the only Lancer with multiple hits, going 3-for-4 in the game.
CBU moves to 10-1 on the season. The Lancers take on defending NCAA Division II National Champs and No. 1-ranked UC San Diego on Monday at 3 p.m.
