SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – A home run from Luke Navigato on the first pitch of the game highlighted game two of California Baptist University's series at UC Santa Barbara on Saturday for the Lancers.
The 25th-ranked Gauchos scored four unearned runs en route to a 7-1 win over CBU at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium, to match a program-best 12-game winning streak. UCSB improves to 14-2 on the year, while CBU moves to 13-6. The three-game set wraps up with a 1 p.m. game on Sunday.
Navigato and Andrew Bash both had two hits in the game for CBU, while Jeff Bruyntjens, Chad Castillo, Damon Keith and Harrison Spohn also had knocks in the game as the Lancers out hit the Gauchos 7-6.
Jacob McCarvel threw three shutout and no-hit innings in relief for CBU, giving up just two walks on the mound.
Navigato hit a home run on the first pitch of the game to give CBU a 1-0 lead on Jack Dashwood, who entered the season as the fourth-ranked prospect in the Big West Conference for the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft.
