Lancers Take On UCR In Crosstwon Showdown

RIVERSIDE — California Baptist University softball made the short trip down the 91 Freeway to close out the CBU/UCR Classic against the crosstown Highlanders at Amy S. Harrison field on the campus of UC Riverside. The Highlanders went extra innings in the game prior, but needed just five to put away the Lancers, winning the contest by a score of 8-0.
Brittany Galvez continued her hot hitting ways, leading off the game with a single and ultimately going 1-3 on the day.

Action would come at a premium as both teams combined for just two hits in the first two-and-a-half innings.
Tides shifted in the bottom of the third when UCR found its bats and knocked in six runs on six hits.
The Lancers would collect just two more hits after that, including a leadoff single in the top of the fifth from Molly Kolander.

The Highlanders would put the game away early scoring two more in the bottom of the fifth to end the contest.
The loss drops the Lancers to 10-14 on the season with a rematch against the Highlanders scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, weather permitting.
