BSB PREVIEW: Four More in Store for Lancers

RIVERSIDE – California Baptist University will play its first mid-week game of the season at the University of San Diego -- weather permitting -- and turn right around to host UC Davis this weekend.
The Lancers are coming off a 2-2 series split at the University of Nevada after a 13-4 win in Reno on Sunday. CBU has now won five of its last seven to end the fourth week of the season with a 7-7 record.
San Diego won its last two games to secure the series victory at Indiana over the weekend, and bring its record to 11-4 this year. The Toreros own impressive wins over Oregon (6-5) and UC Irvine (9-1) this season, as well.
UC Davis is coming off a home-series win over Mount St. Mary's (Md.), and will face Saint Mary's on Tuesday before making the trip down to Riverside. UC Davis is off to a 7-5 start to the season and owns a series win over Utah, North Dakota State, along with an impressive 4-3 win over Loyola Marymount.
CBU's offense has come into its own over the last two series, as the team is hitting .356, slugging .540 and posting a .464 on-base percentage, with 12 steals over the last seven games. Six Lancers with at least 10 at-bats, are hitting above .300 over that stretch: Chad Castillo (.516), Kyle Oyama (.500), Ulises Caballero (.423), Damon Keith (.409), Harrison Spohn (.385) and Nick Plaia (.323).
Castillo (.710), Oyama (.813), Caballero (.731), Keith (.682) and Spohn (.577) are all slugging above .500, as well. Spohn (nine), Castillo and Keith (.seven) are all averaging at least an RBI a game, as well.
The Lancers' pitching staff is also logging a 2.51 ERA and .219 batting average against over the last seven games.

Offense has been the strength of USD so far, as the team is batting .279 and has a .372 OBP this season, while its pitching staff has a 4.70 ERA and .254 batting average against on the year.
