Lancers Open Season Against Nationally Ranked Arizona State

Six Lancers made their CBU debut in the game, five of whom got starting nods. Jazmine Castaneda got the start in the circle for CBU, striking out a pair of Sun Devils in two innings of work. Freshman Priscilla Estrada also made her CBU debut at shortstop. Estrada recorded the Lancers only hit on the day, slicing a jam-shot into left-center for her first collegiate hit.

Sophomore Brooke Piazza got her first start behind the plate for the Lancers and had maybe the most spectacular defensive play of the game. Piazza quickly collected a pitch in the dirt and comfortably threw out a would-be ASU base stealer from her knees in the bottom of the third inning.
