RIVERSIDE - California Baptist University softball is riding a three-game win streak after sweeping New Mexico State at home last weekend, improving to 21-16 on the year and 4-2 in WAC play. The Lancers are tied for second in the West Division standings with Seattle U, just one game behind Grand Canyon, who sits in first.
Katelyn Mangrello continues to lead the offensive charge for CBU, checking in this week with a .385 batting average, 20 runs batted in, 13 extra base hits, and a three-game hitting streak, while Raegan Cheyne tops the list with 17 runs scored. Michaila Harrington is crushing it on the base paths, already with 11 stolen bases on the year for a Lancer squad that stole a total of 16 a season ago.
The CBU pitching staff continues to impress, holding a killer offensive team in New Mexico State to just eight total runs in three games. They continue to be led by the duo of Alyssa Argomaniz and Jazmine Castaneda, and collectively hold at 2.75 ERA which, if they can maintain it, would be the lowest in the Division I era.

The Lopes lead the WAC in many offensive categories, including runs (195), RBI (171), home runs (31), stolen bases (81) and batting average (.329). In the circle, GCU and CBU match up evenly, as the top-two staffs in the WAC. The Lopes edge the Lancers in ERA with a 2.57, but with six less games played.
Argomaniz and Castaneda will have their work cut out for them against a Grand Canyon lineup that boasts seven starters with batting averages of .319 or better. Katelyn Dunckel leads the group with a .446 average while slugging .699 on the year.
The only conference game the Lopes have dropped this season came at the hands of NM State, who took game one of their series 8-7, scoring on a walk-off error in the bottom of the eighth. GCU left no doubt after that, finishing the series with a pair of run-rule wins at 13-4 (5) and 21-3 (5).
