RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University's women's soccer team played Loyola Marymount to a 0-0 tie on Saturday at the CBU Soccer Stadium.
The Lancers move to 2-1-1 on the season, while the Lions are now 1-0-3. LMU's defense has been stingy early on in the season, as the Lions haven't allowed a goal with two scoreless draws to UC Irvine and Washington and a 1-0 victory over CSUN.
It was a physical game from start to finish, and plenty of opportunities throughout the 90 minutes. LMU managed to outshoot the Lancers, 17-14, but Noa Schumacher recorded a season-high eight saves on the night to earn her second straight shutout.
Schumacher's best save came in the 43rd minute as the Lions were awarded a free kick just outside the box.

The Lancers had multiple chances to put the game away, as they recorded four corner kicks on the night, but weren't able to find the back of the net.
McKenna Ray, Danielle Gordon, and Karley Weeks led the Lancers on the night with two shots each.
"This was a hard-fought physical game against a team that is known for being difficult to break down, said head coach Kristen St. Clair." "I thought the first 25 minutes in the first half, we were out working our opponent, executing our game plan well on both sides of the ball. Unfortunately, we took our foot off the pedal, making some undisciplined mistakes that allowed our opponent to get back in the game. That being said, I was proud of our team's resolve and response in the second half to reestablish our game plan. Our attack created dangerous scoring opportunities, and our defense was solid, adjusting well to our opponent when needed. Noa came up with important saves every time she was called upon. As a young team, we learned some important lessons tonight about our individual and collective execution and performance consistency. We had good moments overall, earning an important point. We'll get back to work on Monday in preparation for our next opponent."UP NEXT
The Lancers will host UC Riverside for the Crosstown Showdown on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m.
