RIVERSIDE – Fans were treated to an absolutely incredible night of softball on Wednesday night as California Baptist University swept Colgate, 4-3 and 9-4, in the final tune-up series before the start of conference play. The wins put the Lancers' record at 16-10 overall, having claimed victory in 10 of their past 11 contests.
GAME ONE: CBU 4 – COLGATE 3
The Raiders opened scoring in the top of the first, but both teams would go quiet after that until the sixth. CBU finally answered in the bottom of the sixth with a Samantha Demyon walk that would eventually turn into a Sydney Soto RBI single.
Colgate would tack on two insurance runs in the top of the seventh, but the Lancers never hesitated. Amanda Bricker led off the bottom of the seventh with a pinch-hit single. She would be pinch run for by Ryley McDaniel, who would score three pitches later on Molly Kolander's second triple of the season, making it a 3-2 game still in favor of the team from Hamilton, New York.
That lead would fade quickly as Demyon would single to bring home Kolander and put the winning run, Deja Westbrook, just 60 feet away. Priscilla Estrada sent the first pitch she saw up the middle for a walk-off single, and Westbrook scored the winning run easily. 𝐖𝐀𝐋𝐊 𝐎𝐅𝐅

Starting pitcher Alyssa Argomaniz went five strong, allowing just one run on four hits, but would get the no decision on Wednesday night. Morgan McConnell came in for two innings of relief work, limiting the Raiders to just two hits and two earned, and collected her fourth win of the season courtesy of Estrada's late-game heroics.
GAME TWO: CBU 9 – COLGATE 4
The Lancers didn't wait so long to get their bats going in game two, racking up five runs in the first inning. Bricker again was huge, smoking a double down the right field line to score Soto and Estada. Maya Martinez and Kolander would make Colgate pay by scoring on two wild pitches. The inning was capped when Kayla Lyon, making her sixth start of the year, sent a solo shot over the left field wall.
Colgate answered with two of their own in the second, but Lyon wouldn't stand for that. The Inland Empire native came to the plate in the bottom of the third with Westbrook already on first and crushed her second home run of the game, this time to left center. Lyon is just the second player in the Division I era to record a multi-homerun game, joining Shelby Arbeiter, who accomplished the same feat twice, also in her freshman year, in 2019. ЯHᕼᖇ

A two-run home run by Colgate in the top of the fifth made it a 7-4 advantage for the Lancers, but Bricker would close the door on any comeback thoughts the Raiders had in the sixth. She placed her second two-RBI double of the game into right center, scoring McDaniel and Demyon to reach the final scoreline of the night.
Freshman Carly Limosnero got her first start in the circle in the second game of the doubleheader, throwing four strong innings, allowing five hits and two earned, but collecting her first collegiate win in the process. Fellow freshman Presley Hosick came into the game in relief in the fifth, threw three innings of two-hit ball while allowing the other two runs, but still picked up her second save of the year.
The Lancers will open up Western Athletic Conference action on the road this year, traveling to Nacogdoches, Texas, to take on the Lady Jacks of Stephen F. Austin for the first time in program history. Game one is scheduled for Friday at 3:00 p.m. Pacific
