Lancers Make it Six-Straight Wins After Defeating Long Beach State

RIVERSIDE – California Baptist University softball claimed its sixth-straight win against a stingy Long Beach State team at Funk Stadium on Tuesday night, downing The Beach 3-2. The Lancers made the most of three hits, four walks, and one hit-batter while capitalizing on three Beach errors to scrape out the victory. CBU moves to 12-9 on the year
Presley Hosick got the start but was replaced by Jazmine Castaneda after just one inning, one run allowed, and 32 pitches. Castaneda went the remaining six innings on 80 pitches, allowing just one run and striking out three to earn her third win of the year.
Samantha Demyon led CBU at the plate, going 2-2 with a walk. Priscilla Estrada had the Lancers' only other hit on the night, scoring later that inning to notch her team-leading 11th run.
The Lancers now prepare for their third and final home tournament of the season, the Lance Up Invite, scheduled for March 10-12. CBU will fave Harvard, Syracuse, UC San Diego, and Harvard again throughout the three-day tournament.
