California Baptist had a hot start on Tuesday night against the Highlanders, beginning with a solo home run from Mitchel Simon. Cole Howarth and Josh Paino followed suit with back-to-back doubles that allowed three more runs to come home for an early 4-0 lead in the first inning. Connor McGuire extended the Lancer's lead in the fourth with another solo shot over the left field fence, tallying his third home run of the year.

The Lancer pitching staff combined to keep UCR scoreless through the fifth, but the Highlanders managed to put one on the board off a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth. CBU only allowed two hits and totaled thirteen strikeouts against the Highlanders.

Simon led the Lancer offense with two hits against the UCR pitching staff and collected his thirteenth home run of the season. Paino earned a pair of RBI off his double and Howarth walked away with an RBI from his double as well. Hemmerling shined on the mound against the Highlanders with six strikeouts during his three innings of action.
California Baptist takes on the Tarleton Texans at home for a Western Athletic Conference series beginning on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
