Lancers Battle UC Davis In The Second of Three-Day Series

DAVIS, CA - California Baptist University softball looked to bounce back after a close loss on Friday night but fell again to the Aggies of UC Davis, this time by a score of 3-1. The Lancers now stand at 7-6 on the year and look to claim one on the road in tomorrow's finale at 1:00 p.m.

The Aggies got things rolling early, plating their first run in the bottom of the first. After a quiet second inning, the Lancers answered in the top of the third after Priscilla Estrada led off with a double and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt from Merissa Borkowski. Kalena Burns would score Estrada on an RBI single up the middle to tie the game at 1-1.

However, UC Davis would score in the bottom of the frame, using a walk, a fielder's choice, and two singles to add two more to their line score, unknowingly reaching the final scoreline in the early inning.

Estrada would collect a pair of hits during the day, while Burns, Kayla Lyon, Kate Penberthy, and Maya Martinez would sprinkle hits throughout the rest of the game. Starter Presley Hosick lasted 2.2 innings and was charged with all three runs, given up on four hits. Jazmine Castaneda came in to relieve Hosick and was on another level for 3.1 innings. She didn't allow a single hit while striking out five.

The Lancers and Aggies will conclude their series on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow's game will be available to watch on ESPN+ and follow along with live stats.
