RIVERSIDE--- It was a vengeful night for the University of Connecticut baseball team during the second game of the weekend series at Totman Stadium. UConn picked up an 8-0 win over California Baptist to even the series with the Lancers and improve to 6-10 on the season. The Lancers struggled offensively on Saturday evening and will be looking to turn things around during Sunday's rubber match, as the squad moves to 13-6 overall this year.

UConn got things going in the first inning and plated their first run of the game for a lead that stuck all nine innings. Four home runs spread out through the third, fourth, and seventh innings snagged six more runs in favor of the Huskies, while an RBI single in the top of the seventh secured the final 8-0 line.

The Huskies were firing on all cylinders on Saturday evening as their starting pitcher Garret Coe threw a complete game and shut out the Lancers. The graduate student went all nine innings and allowed just five hits from the CBU offense while sitting down four Lancers. On the home side, the CBU pitching staff looked incredibly different from last night's impressive outing. California Baptist also sat down four Huskies but allowed 11 hits and seven earned runs. Offensively, five different Lancers picked up a single hit tonight.

The weekend finale is set to begin Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. as both squads look to pick a series win and right their sails with a rubber match victory.
