10/7/2025 10:00:00 AM | Men's Soccer
RIVERSIDE --- WAC soccer has arrived, as the Lancers kicked off the 2025 season last week with a 3-1 loss in San Jose. The schedule now shifts back to Riverside, as a pair of WAC opponents make their way to CBU for the Lancers' first homestand of the conference schedule.
The Lancers sit 5-2-2 overall, with three victories and a draw coming on their home pitch. This week, they will welcome UNLV and Grand Canyon to Riverside, as both will make their final WAC regular-season appearances at the CBU Soccer Stadium.
CBU opened the WAC schedule on Saturday night with a visit to San Jose State. While the Lancers produced multiple quality looks on goal in the opening 20 minutes, the Spartans did the bulk of the scoring with three unanswered goals before Drew Hardin found the back of the net in the 89th minute.
The goal was Hardin's third of the season, tying him with Liam Jones for second most on the team. Blake D'Agostino leads the Lancers with seven goals.
First up for the Lancers this week will be the Rebels of UNLV (3-4-3, 0-0-1 WAC), who come to Riverside for a 7:15 p.m. kickoff on Thursday. The Rebels jump-started the WAC season with a scoreless draw against Utah Valley on Saturday night. Goalkeeper Hugo Lemos picked up his fourth shutout of the season, the third most in the WAC.
The Rebels have managed just six goals through ten matches, with six different players finding the back of the net. Jonah Craig and Tyler Ware lead the squad with three points each (one goal, one assist).
After the Rebels visit Riverside, next on the schedule will be the Lopes of Grand Canyon, who come to town on Sunday. The Lopes sit 7-2-1 (1-0-0 WAC) on the season and opened the conference schedule with a 3-1 victory against (RV) Utah Valley. The loss was Utah Valley's first of the season.
The Lopes are led by Junior Diouf, whose ten goals are tops in the WAC. Goalkeeper Daniel Ibarra's .861 save percentage is also the best in the conference.
Grand Canyon will open its week in California with a Thursday visit to San Diego State. Sunday's match in Riverside is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Following this homestand, just one more home match remains on the 2025 schedule, as the Lancers will hold Senior Night against Utah Tech on October 26. However, while October 26 will be the final home match of the regular season, it will not be the last men's soccer match in Riverside this year, as CBU will be the site of the 2025 WAC Men's Soccer Tournament.
Tickets for this week, and all remaining home matches, are on sale HERE.
