RIVERSIDE --- Entering his first season as head coach of CBU Softball, coach Brandon Telesco has announced the schedule for the 2026 campaign. In their final season in the WAC, CBU will begin its new era on February 5, launching a 56-game regular season slate that will hopefully lead the Lancers to postseason success.
The Lancers are coming off a 26-32 performance in 2025 that ended in the WAC Quarterfinals, which occurred at John C. Funk Stadium in Riverside. The 2026 WAC Tournament, CBU's final one before joining the Big West, will be in Stephenville, TX, hosted by Tarleton State.
Coach Telesco will make his Division I head coaching debut on February 5, as the Lancers take part in the UNLV Desert Classic in Las Vegas. CBU will kick off the season against UNLV, one of two times they will play the Rebels over the weekend. The Lancers will also play Purdue twice, and UIC once.
Next comes the home opener, as CBU will host the annual CBU Classic February 12 – 16. The Lancers will play LMU and Saint Francis on day one and return to play CSU Bakersfield on day two. Day three sees the Lancers play Bakersfield and Saint Francis again. CBU will wrap up the week on February 16 against Hawaii.
From there, the Lancers will travel to Palm Desert to compete in the prestigious Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. CBU will play Oregon State, UC San Diego, Seattle, Fresno State, and Utah across the three-day competition.
CBU's next invitational comes after a one-game break with San Diego in Riverside, as the Lancers visit Arizona for the ASU/GCU Invitational. CBU will start on Grand Canyon's field for games against Bakersfield and Wisconsin on February 27. The Lancers will play on Arizona State's field the next day, taking on Bakersfield again before playing the Sun Devils.
One game with LMU in Riverside will follow before CBU heads to Boise for the Blue Collar Classic. The Lancers will play Portland State, Boise State, St. Thomas, and then back-to-back against Weber State.
The preseason schedule wraps up with a trip to San Diego to play UCSD and San Diego State, followed by a three-game series in Riverside against North Dakota State. UC Riverside wraps up the pre-WAC slate with the Crosstown Showdown at Funk Stadium on March 17.
WAC Play opens with a three-game series at Southern Utah, beginning March 20, and then resumes on March 27 when Utah Valley comes to Riverside. The Lancers will host Utah Tech for three games beginning April 3 and then head to Arlington to play UT Arlington on April 10. CBU will visit Abilene Christian starting on April 24, and then the regular season will conclude with Tarleton State visiting Riverside May 1–2.
Mixed into the conference schedule will be home games against UC Santa Barbara, CSUN, UC Riverside, and Cal State Fullerton. The Lancers will also make a trip to UCLA on April 14.
The 2026 WAC Tournament in Stephenville begins May 6.
