Burns Named WAC Player of the Week

RIVERSIDE - California Baptist senior slugger Kalena Burns has earned her first career Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week award after an incredible week leading her team to a conference series sweep of Utah Tech. Burns hit a home run in all four games CBU played last week, the longest such streak in the NCAA era.
Burns was locked in last week, slashing an incredible .467/1.400/.529 against UNLV and the Trailblazers. This includes three multi-hit games as well as a triple in game one against Utah Tech. Burns jumps from being tied for ninth in the WAC with five home runs to fourth with her new total of nine.
Kalena and her Lancers return home for their final regular season home series this week as Abilene Christian arrives for a three-game series starting Friday afternoon. Saturday will be Senior Day, so be sure to arrive early and plan to hang around afterward to take in the Senior Day ceremonies. Friday's doubleheader is set for 4:00 and 6:30 p.m. at Funk Stadium.
