RIVERSIDE--- The final regular season match for the California Baptist women's soccer program has arrived before Western Athletic Conference play officially kicks off next week. The Lancers are set to welcome Weber State on Thursday evening and will be on the hunt for a win heading into conference play. CBU enters the week 4-4-1 after suffering a heartbreaker in San Diego last week.
Overall, CBU's previous week was successful from an offensive perspective after taking down local rival UC Riverside 2-0 to keep their home winning streak alive. The Lancers also scored a pair of goals on the road at the University of San Diego, despite falling to the Toreros 3-2 on a controversial penalty kick. Anja Jestrovic had her best game of the season after converting on her own penalty before making the game-tying assist on Ava Westlund's goal. Westlund leads the Lancers with three goals and two assists on the season, marking her as the fourth most in the WAC. On the other side of the field, Mikayla O'Brien's shutout versus UCR was her third of the season, and the junior goalkeeper now leads the WAC in shutouts as well.
Weber State comes to Riverside with a 4-4 record, boasting wins over familiar foes North Dakota State and Cal State Bakersfield. Most recently, the squad fell to WAC opponent Utah Valley 4-3 earlier this week. The Wildcats have a widespread offense with no clear star, as six players have two goals this season. Weber State has scored 14 goals this season, but has also allowed 15, with just one shutout on the season.
Thursday night's game will mark the first time these programs have faced off in women's soccer. Fans can purchase tickets here.
