ARLINGTON, TX. --- The Lancers return to the road this weekend for a single game in Texas, as CBU looks to claim first place in the WAC with a win on Saturday. Returning to the scene of a New Year's Day loss, the Lancers will look for revenge against UT Arlington, as CBU also looks to extend its five-game win streak.
CBU has been off since last weekend when they beat Utah Valley in overtime. The win moved the Lancers to 5-3 in WAC action, extending a five-game win streak that began after an 0-3 start to conference play.
Last week's win was also highlighted by the greatest offensive performance in program history, a 47-point showing by Dominique Daniels Jr. Daniels Jr. broke a record that had stood since 1971, while also posting a record for free throw attempts (21) and matching the mark of free throws made (18) in a single game.
For his efforts, Daniels Jr. was named WAC Player of the Week, the seventh of his career.
Four of CBU's wins during this streak have come at home inside the Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler Events Center. The only road win for the Lancers during this run was against Abilene Christian.
Saturday will be the second meeting of the season between the Lancers and UT Arlington. Their previous meeting occurred on New Year's Day and saw the Lancers score a season-low 51 points.
The Lancers were led by Daniels Jr., who dropped 25 points in Arlington. Martel Williams also finished in double figures with 12. UT Arlington was paced by three players in double figures: Marcell McCreary (14), Raysean Seamster (13), and Bahsil Laster (12).
UT Arlington enters the weekend leading the WAC with a 6-2 mark. The Mavericks beat Southern Utah on Thursday, 80-61, giving UTA two straight conference wins. Arlington is 8-1 at home inside College Park Center this season.
Saturday's game, streamed on ESPN+, is scheduled for noon (PT).
CBU will return home next week for a pair of games inside the Fowler Events Center. Tarleton State will be in town on February 5, followed by Abilene Christian on February 7.
