RIVERSIDE--- The California Baptist baseball program secured its second game of the series on Saturday evening as it defeated Harvard 11-4. Despite Harvard earning themselves an early lead in the first inning, CBU did what it does best and struck back with powerful offense that could not be stopped. The Lancers improve to 16-4 this season and will look to take the series tomorrow evening in the third installment of the four-game series.
The Crimson got out to a hot start and roughed up CBU's starting pitcher Bryan Peck with a solo shot for a 1-0 lead, but Bryce McFeely would right the Lancer sails with a two-run homer for a lead that the home team would not relinquish. Gary Adcock's squad doubled down with three more runs in the second inning before tacking on another five in the fourth and fifth innings. Saturday night's victory was highlighted by three hits from McFeely, combined with four RBI. Riley Hunsaker also had a busy night on the basepaths as the center fielder picked up four stolen bases.
From the mound, the Lancers showed off another solid night and struck out 14 batters for 30 on the weekend. The relief pitchers were excellent as well, not giving up a single hit through five innings and dishing out just two free passes to Harvard.
California Baptist will return to Totman tomorrow evening at 5 p.m. as they look for the series victory before going for the weekend sweep on Monday.
