
LANCERS WIN PAIR

The win is the Lancers' fourth straight at the tournament, which concludes tomorrow with a pair of games against No. 3-ranked Simon Fraser (B.C.) and Oregon Tech.
CBU scored 11 runs in the first 3 innings, as Amy Thomas was cruising in the circle before getting banged up by a 4-run SOU fourth. Her sister, Candice, came on in relief and tossed the final inning and third before the game was called due to darkness. Amy went 3.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 6 earned runs while striking out 6.
The Lancers, however, gave her a comfortable cushion with a 5-run first and a 6-run third.
Jenkins had 2-RBI double in the first and later came home on a sacrifice fly by Sarah Hurlbut. Kelly Maconachy later added an RBI single to give the Lancers a 5-0 lead.
In the third, Hurlbut had an RBI single before scoring on a passed ball. Millard also delivered an RBI single. Cassandrah Carreon tripled and scored on a throwing error, and Nichole Olaiz also added an RBI single. Millard added an RBI triple in the fourth.
Earlier in the day, the Lancers pounded out 13 hits, and Candice Thomas and Lisa Herbertson threw a 5-inning, combined no-hitter as the Lancers downed Northwest Christian (Ore.), 13-0.
Millard was 4-for-4 with 4 RBIs, and Jenkins was 2-for-2 with 5 RBIs, including a 3-run home run.
Keeley Johnson was 2-for-4, and Sara Goforth was 2-for-2 with 3 runs and an RBI.
Thomas started and went the first 3 innings, striking out 7 of the 10 batters she faced. Herbertson came on in relief in the fourth and tossed the final 2 innings to complete the no-hitter and pick up the win.
