The Lancers win their 13th and 14th games in a row, improving to 17-1, as they open up the GSAC schedule this Saturday with a home doubleheader against No. 21 Biola. Dakota Wesleyan, meanwhile, drops to 3-6 on the campaign.
Sara Goforth had 4 hits and scored 4 runs on the afternoon from the leadoff spot, as Chantal Millard scored 5 times and notched 4 RBI to compliment Carreon's 2 long-balls and 7 RBI on the day.
The Lancers recorded 11 runs over the second and third innings, combined, and ended up scoring in every frame in the, 14-0, win over Tigers to open the afternoon.
The first of 2 homers for Carreon powered a 6-run second inning for California Baptist. Carreon smacked a 3-run deep fly to dead centerfield that plated Chantal Millard and Nikki Lowe, who had singled each ripped an RBI single?Millard's a 2-run single?earlier in the inning.
Sara Goforth, Millard and Lowe all 3 reached base on a pair of hits and an error to load up the bases in the Lancer third inning, and Carreon unloaded them with a grand slam to left field, making the score 12-0. Michelle Wroten knocked a 2-out pinch-hit double, and then came home on a wild pitch, as the Lancers stretched their lead to a baker's dozen, at 13-0 after 3 frames.
The bench did some more damage in the fourth inning, when Erin Moore rocked a pinch-hit triple and scored on one of 6 Tiger errors in the game, making the final score 14-0.
Candice Thomas (8-1) picked up the game-one victory, as she went 5 shutout innings, surrendering just 2 hits. Following Melissa Belflower's first-inning single, Thomas retired the next 7 Tigers in order, as she won her seventh decision in a row. She set down 8 batters on strikes and did not issue a walk.
With the scored 4-1 in the sixth inning of game 2, the Lancer offense woke back up after being held scoreless in the third, fourth and fifth innings, with a 5-run output in the sixth inning. Dakota Wesleyan committed 6 errors, leading to 4 unearned runs in the ballgame, including 3 in the sixth inning.
Lowe had a 2-run double in the frame, which was the only RBI hit in the inning.
Amy Thomas tossed 6 inning where she allowed just one unearned run on a pair of hits and 2 walks as she struck out 10 Tigers to improve to 9-0 with the win. Christina Bonrud was hit with the loss, allowing 9 runs (5 earned) on 8 hits and 3 walks. She struck out 3 in the outing.
