AZUSA, Calif. ? An 18-game win streak came to an end Saturday afternoon as Azusa Pacific gave California Baptist University its first loss of the season. The Cougars (9-9, 1-3 GSAC) blanked the Lancers (19-1, 3-1 GSAC) in the opener, 2-0, but CBU came back to life in the second game, winning 8-0 in five innings.
In the opener, the Cougars jumped out in the first, scoring two runs. Erika Navarette reached on a one-out error before Erin Halma singled to put runners at first and second. Natalie Mickelson cleared the bases with a double to left center to give APU the 2-0 lead.

Two of the Lancers' hits came from Ashley Boyd who went 2-for-3 while the other came from Sarah Strong who went 1-for-3.
CBU threatened in the top of the third when Briana Corral reached on a two-out error and Boyd pushed her to third with a single, but Nikki Lowe fouled out on the first base side to end the inning. Melanie Ahumada (7-1) allowed one earned run on two hits in six innings of work.
The Lancers didn't waste anytime in the nightcap, scoring three runs in the top of the first. Nicole Shoemaker drove in the first two runs of the game with a triple to right field and then scored on an error to put CBU up 3-0. The Lancers took a 6-0 lead when Hurlbut sacrificed home Shoemaker. CBU put the finishing touches on the game in the fifth when Boyd scored on an Erin Moore fielder's choice and Lowe scored on a Shoemaker ground out.
