SB Preview: Lancers Play in the Bay

RIVERSIDE -- California Baptist University will look to build off of a successful tournament in Puerto Vallarta last weekend with another road swing this weekend.
The Lancers will travel to San Jose and Santa Clara to play in the Silicon Valley Classic from February 21-23. They will open the tournament with a rematch against Colorado State and battle against the likes of host San Jose State, Boise State and Cal Poly before wrapping things up with Yale on Sunday morning.
CBU is coming off a 2-2 run against some of the nation's best teams at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge. The Lancers also held sixth-ranked Texas to just four runs and defeated Colorado State and Ole Miss in an exciting doubleheader.

These two teams met on the dirt diamond for the first time ever less than a week ago in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The Lancers walked away with a statement win, defeating the 2019 NCAA Tournament qualifiers, 4-3. Both teams currently sit at 4-5 at this point in the young season.
Mackenzie Budinger and Kerisa Viramontes led the charge hitting and pitching wise, respectively. Budinger finished the game 2-2 with three runs batted in, while Viramontes pitched a complete game and struck out seven Rams and allowed just six hits.

The Broncos and the Lancers both competed in the NorCal Kickoff earlier this season, but did not face each other in the tournament. Boise State comes into the Silicon Valley Classic with a 6-4 record, as they power through their opening 25-game slate on the road.
Seven players have started every game for BSU so far this season, with two more starting nine of 10. Four Broncos already have multiple home runs in 2020, led by the three of Kelsey Lalor.

This will be the program's first trip to California since they played 12 games in nine days throughout the state back in 2016.
