LAS VEGAS – The Lancer softball team took on Weber State for the second time in as many days in their only game of the Sunday round of the Desert Classic hosted by UNLV. California Baptist would drop its final game by a score of 5-1.
Abby Robertson led off the scoring with her second home run of the season, a solo shot in the top of the first inning, giving the Lancers a quick 1-0 lead. Robertson would go on to hit 2-3, adding a single in the top of the third to her homer. Robertson would be the sole CBU player to record a multi-hit game on the day, as Amanda Argomaniz and Makayla Jordan would be the only other Lancers to record a hit on Sunday.
Kerisa Viramontes got the start, but she wouldn't make it to the end of the inning after allowing three runs on three hits in the bottom of the first while managing to get two outs. Giana Lopez would come in to replace her and get the final out of the inning, but the damage was done as the Wildcats has already scored enough to take the win. Lopez would finish out the game, allowing three hits over 5.1 innings pitched and two earned runs.

CBU will open up its home schedule on Wednesday with a single game against the Titans of Cal State Fullerton, with the first-pitch set for 4 p.m. at John C. Funk Stadium. Following that, the Lancers will head back up to Northern California for the Stanford Invitational from February 26-28, where they are slated to take on Pac-12 foes Stanford and Cal twice each and a single game against Santa Clara.
