Patrick, McBay Lead Lancers To Friday Split With The Texans

GAME ONE
The day's first contest was a classic pitchers' duel as the teams recorded a total of four hits in the game. The Lancers had just one of those four hits, but that was all they needed as they took the 1-0 win. Samantha Demyon came in as a pinch-runner for Maile Olsen in the top of the sixth inning after Olsen worked a leadoff walk to reach base. A sacrifice bunt by Brittany Galvez and a single from Ashley McBay put Demyon on third with just one out. An attempted pickoff from the catcher flew into left field, allowing Demyon to easily score what would end up being the deciding run.

The Texans didn't just concede the game; they forced CBU to work hard defensively as TSU challenged the Lancer defense early and often. The first inning saw starting catcher Tiana Patrick show off her defensive prowess from behind the plate as she sent a perfectly thrown ball to Mia Alvarez to catch an attempted steal at second.

Patrick teamed up with Makayla Jordan in the bottom of the fifth for another incredible defensive out. Jordan made a sprinting catch in shallow right field for the second out of the inning and kept her barring's enough to show off her arm-cannon, connecting with Patrick on a one-hopper to save a run.

Kerisa Viramontes recorded just two strikeouts against the Texans, but allowed only three hits and no runs to earn her 11th win of the year on yet another complete game.
GAME TWO
CBU got on the board first again, this time only waiting until the top of the second inning to break the scoring silence. The Lancers plated Patrick off of a McBay single to shallow left field for the early 1-0 lead.

The Texans were able to respond quickly by stringing together four hits with two walks to bring across five runs in the bottom of the frame. CBU loaded the bases in the top of the third but only managed to add one run with just one out.
The Lancers would collect their first two extra-base hits of the day in the top of the fourth. An RBI double by Katelyn Mangrello cut the Texan lead to 5-3. That was soon followed by Patrick's first career triple, which would score Amanda Argomaniz and Mangrello to level the score at 5-5.

A two-run home run by Tarleton in the bottom of the fourth inning gave the Texans a 7-5 lead that would prove to be the game-winner. Ultimately the Texans would explode for seven more runs in the fifth inning to finish the game early.
