RIVERSIDE, CA – California Baptist University softball closed tournament season on Saturday afternoon with a matinee against the Crimson of Harvard University. It was a tight game into the seventh inning, with Harvard pulling out the 2-1 win. That gives CBU its first loss since February 26, as they maintain a strong 14-10 record.
The Lancers got on the board first in the bottom of the second after Amanda Bricker knocked her first career triple to lead off the inning. Molly Kolander brought her home six pitches later on a single to left center, taking a 1-0 lead.
A single in the top of the fourth would tie things up for the Crimson, and they would take the lead in the top of the sixth on a solo shot down the right field line. The Lancers would threaten to flip the script in the bottom of the sixth, loading the bases with just one out, but could not convert a run from that opportunity.
CBU would allow two Crimson base runners in the top of the seventh, but Harvard would come up empty. Priscilla Estrada made it to first in the bottom half of the inning, but that's as far as she would make it before Harvard claimed victory.
The Lancers' next scheduled game day is Wednesday, March 15, when they host Colgate for a midweek doubleheader. Game times for that are set for 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
