Utah Valley on Friday night, winning 1-0 and 5-1 against the Wolverines at home. The Lancers improve to 25-17 on the year and 9-5 in the Western Athletic Conference. The Wolverine woes continue as they drop to 13-23 this season with a 6-8 WAC record.
GAME ONE: CBU 1 – UVU 0
A classic pitcher's dual opened the series as the two teams combined for just six hits as well as five errors in the first game. The Lancers broke the deadlock in the bottom of the fifth, beginning with a leadoff double from Maya Martinez. Riley McDaniel would pinch run for Martinez and score two batters later as Deja Westbrook would drive her in with a pinch-hit RBI double.

The Lancers got a gem of an effort in the circle from Jazmine Castaneda. The second-year hurler tossed her fourth complete game shutout as a Lancer on the back of a season-high seven strikeouts. She improved her season record to 7-2, dropping her ERA to a staff-best 2.10.

GAME TWO: CBU 5 – UVU 1
The Lancers wasted no time taking control of the nightcap, scoring in the first inning as Priscilla Estrada took advantage of a failed pickoff attempt to score from third. CBU would score in the third, fifth, and twice in the sixth innings to take a 5-0 lead before the Wolverines managed to get on the board with a solo shot in the top of the seventh.
Kayla Lyon continued her phenomenal freshman campaign, scoring Merissa Borkowski on a sac fly, her 16th RBI of the year. Alissa Montes De Oca kept her hot streak going, lacing her first career triple to right center, scoring Sydney Soto. Estrada capped the scoring with a two-run double in the sixth, bringing in Natalie Elias and Valerie Alvarez. ➕2️⃣ for Cilla!#LanceUp⚔️ pic.twitter.com/GLsc6A7b1u
