Lancers Fall to Aggies in Final Game of Series

NMSU took the lead early in the first inning with a single run but was quickly met with back-to-back home runs from Connor McGuire and Josh Paino as CBU secured their first lead of the game. The Lancers continued to extend their lead with a triple from Cole Howarth, that scored two runs, and a well-placed single from Jake Skipworth, that also tallied another pair of runs.

The Aggies tied the game 6-6 in the bottom of the fourth inning and took the lead fifth with two runs. California Baptist continued to battle, as Dustin Garcia hit a double in the sixth to score Garret Ostrander and put the Lancers within one of the home squad. Seth Mattox kept the Aggies at bay from the mound, throwing two inning-ending strikeouts in the sixth and seventh. NMSU was able to break through CBU's defense in the eighth and tallied five more runs to ensure their win.
The Lancers will return to Riverside for an away Tuesday match-up against crosstown rivals UCR at 6:30 p.m.
