Lancers Battle Wolfpack to Close out the Weekend

PALO ALTO, CA - California Baptist University softball finished the Easton Invitational on Saturday with their third and final contest of the season against the Nevada Wolfpack. Nevada used a five-run sixth inning to secure the season sweep over the Lancers, 7-4.
CBU started the game with a head of steam, posting two runs on Kate Penberthy's fourth home run of the season, scoring Priscilla Estrada to take a 2-0 lead. The Wolfpack answered slowly, scoring one in the second and one in the third to level the game at 2-2.
The Lancers didn't let that stand for long as they put another two runs on the board in the top of the fourth courtesy of Malachy Russell-Millen's RBI single and a wild pitch that scored Estrada from second and Russell-Millen from third. The Wolfpack would make their move in the sixth, taking advantage of a costly CBU error to score five, four unearned, and take a 7-4 lead.
The Lancers are back home for one game next week before traveling to UT Arlington for their first road series in Western Athletic Conference play. Before they leave, CBU will host CSUN on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. at Funk Stadium.
