Extra Bases Lift Lancers Past UCSD on Tuesday

RIVERSIDE--- California Baptist baseball handed UC San Diego its tenth loss of the season on Tuesday evening after besting the Tritons 10-6 at Totman Stadium. CBU's offense kept its momentum from the weekend going during the midweek tilt and helped improve the Lancers to 14-11 on the year.

Extra bases were the name of the game on Tuesday evening for CBU after Gary Adcock's squad belted nine, including six doubles, two home runs, and a triple. The Lancers got things cooking quickly and put up a trio of runs in the second inning before repeating in the third and fourth as well. The second inning was highlighted by Chris Ramirez's second triple of the year, while the bottom of the third saw two doubles and a home run courtesy of Jake Brown. Ben Castelli knocked his sixth home run of the year for three RBI during the fourth to push the Lancers' lead to 9-3 heading into the second half of the midweek affair.

The Tritons did not go quietly and managed to put up three runs in the last two innings via two home runs, but Nicholas Dumesnil's second double of the night brought home CBU's tenth run for a bit of padding to secure the win. California Baptist is now 3-1 during midweek matchups and is now 1-1 with UCSD this season.

Dumesnil's three-hit night puts him back on top of the stat sheet for the Lancers, sitting at a healthy .327 batting average while tallying nine doubles this season. Brown, Castelli, and Julian Alvarez all registered a pair of hits against the Tritons, while Castelli led the way with four RBI. CBU's pitching staff saw ten different Lancers take the mound and put up 14 strikeouts against UCSD.

California Baptist will now turn its attention to its second Western Athletic Conference series of the season this weekend as the Lancers travel to Texas to take on UT Arlington.
