Lancers Tussle With Titans In Midweek Clash

RIVERSIDE - California Baptist softball welcomed Cal State Fullerton to Funk Stadium on Tuesday night, trailing early but rallying late, but eventually falling to the Titans 8-4.

It was an uphill battle from the start as CSUF slapped a five-spot on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning. The Lancers would get one back in the bottom half, taking advantage of a pair of early walks that set up Ashlee Annett for an RBI single to make it 5-1.

The Titans would get a pair of hits in the top of the second while CBU would get one, but that would be it until the sixth inning when CSUF got a single. The Lancers would threaten in the bottom of the sixth, scoring one on Sydney Soto's one-out single, which was immediately followed by a pinch-hit, bases-clearing single from Makenna Dashiell to make it a 5-4 game. Unfortunately for the home team, the Titans would match that trio of runs, pushing the deficit back to four runs, where it would remain until the final out.

The Lancers are on the road this weekend, traveling to Washington for a three-game Western Athletic Conference series against conference leaders Seattle U. Friday's doubleheader is scheduled for 3:00 & 5:30 p.m., while Saturday's getaway game is set for 11:00 a.m.
