RIVERSIDE --- Annika Hollingsworth provided the perfect ending to game 15 of the CBU Classic, a perfect game against the University of Hawaii. Making her first start of the season, Hollingsworth was untouchable as her offense gave her nine runs to cap off a week of softball in Riverside with a 9-0 win.
Hollingsworth kept Hawaii off the base path for five innings, facing the minimum of 15 batters on the way to CBU's first perfect game since 2011, and the first in CBU's Division I era.
CBU opened the scoring in the bottom of the third when Matti Severns doubled to left-center, driving in Malachy Russell-Millen. Kenzie Farrier-Pilon then added CBU's second run of the inning with a successful squeeze to plate Stevie Robison. A Hawaii error allowed the third run to score, and then the final run of the inning came across home on a groundout by Makayla Medellin.
The Lancers tacked on more in the fourth, starting with Russell-Millen who hit a towering two-run shot over the left field fence to make it 7-0. Two more Hawaii errors added to CBU's offense, allowing a pair of runs to cross home and make it 9-0.
Hollingsworth then recorded two groundouts and a strikeout to wrap up the perfect game and send the CBU dugout onto the field in celebration.
The right-hander, who is now 2-0 this season, struck out three in her perfect performance. She picked up two wins at the CBU Classic, earning her a spot on the CBU Classic All-Tournament Team. Miranda De Nava and Farrier-Pilon were also selected to the All-Tournament Team.
