Lancers and Bulldogs Go to Extras

SAN JOSE -- California Baptist University took Yale to nine innings on Sunday afternoon in San Jose, but it was the Bulldogs who would end the Silicon Valley Classic with a win, defeating the Lancers 3-2. The loss drops the Lancers 2020 record to 4-10.
Freshman Nicole Stark had arguably her best game to date in a Lancer uniform, going 2-3 with a fourth-inning RBI single and a triple that would yield the second CBU run after Dani Rico would enter the game in the top of the sixth to pinch run for Stark.
Giana Lopez started in the circle for CBU and threw five good innings, striking out three and allowing just one earned run. She was relieved in the sixth inning and would receive a no-decision as the game was tied at 2-2 at that point.
Kerisa Viramontes finished the game out for the Lancers, allowing just one hit in 3.2 innings of work, but was charged with her fifth loss of the season after the Bulldogs used two sacrifice hits in the bottom of the ninth to score the runner from second.
CBU will host it's first home game of the season on Wednesday night under the lights of John C. Funk Stadium when it takes on the Aztecs from San Diego State. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and some tickets are still available through this link.

Nicole Stark is clutch for the Lancers today as she laces a triple down the right field line! Dani Rico would pinch run for Stark and score on the next pitch leveling the score!#LanceUp⚔️ pic.twitter.com/usNiyOmffH
