RIVERSIDE -- California Baptist University capped off its co-hosting duties of the CBU/URC Classic when it took on Southern Utah on Saturday. The Lancers defeated the Thunderbirds, 5-2, under the lights of Funk Stadium.

Kerisa Viramontes pitched her second double-digit strikeout game this season, sitting down 11 SUU hitters in the complete game win. She is now 6-6 on the season and has upped her strikeout total to 64, which ranks second in the Western Athletic Conference. The transfer senior is now 3-0 in her last three outings.

The Lancers were led offensively by senior Brittany Galvez, who went 3-3 on the day, just a triple shy of the cycle. Her two runs and two runs batted in paced CBU's victory. She gave the Lancers some breathing room in the bottom of the fifth inning when she launched her second home run of the season, bouncing it off of the face of the scoreboard in center field.

Amanda Argomaniz, Mackenzie Budinger and Juju Dorado each went 1-3 with an RBI against the Thunderbirds. Argomaniz brought in pinch runner Michaila Harrington in the bottom of the sixth, capping the night's scoring and getting Harrington up to five runs scored this season

The Lancers will play their next game tomorrow afternoon on the campus of UC Riverside when they take on the Highlanders at Amy S. Harrison Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
