DSU built a 6-2 lead by the end of the fourth inning and stifled multiple CBU rally attempts during the game. The result moves the Lancers' record to 12-17-1 overall while dropping to 2-1 in Western Athletic Conference competition, while Dixie State now has a 13-14 overall record and records its first first-ever WAC win, now standing at 1-2 in the league.
After yesterday's record-setting offensive performance, CBU took a while to get back into the swing of things and went hitless for the first 3.1 innings on Saturday. The Lancers put runners on the base path via walks, errors and fielder's choice plays, but it wasn't until the fourth inning when the Lancers got on the board. Deja Westbrook continued her standout series with a two-out, two RBI single in the frame.

The fifth inning started out especially promising for CBU, as the Lancers managed to get runners on first and third with no outs. Only one run would score for CBU, which made it a 6-3 game still in favor of the host Trailblazers.

California Baptist would score a single run in the final three innings of the contest, but the gap would prove too great at that point for a complete comeback. Ashley McBay and Abby Robertson would both go 2-4 on the day with McBay scoring a run and Robertson bringing one in.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lancers will host a pair of teams this coming week, welcoming Loyola Marymount for a Wednesday doubleheader before their conference home opener against Utah Valley. The Lancers and the Wolverines will play a doubleheader on Friday, April 2, starting at 5 p.m. The series finale is scheduled for noon on Saturday.
